Shall we enjoy a glass together?
A few weeks ago, I stood in awe before a 50-year-old grapevine, somewhere in the rolling hills of Umbria. The air smelled of sage, egrets skimmed the water. And there I was, bottling wine with friends and laughter – a wine that had been aging for months.
Serious work, by the way. Preparing bottles, sticking labels, stacking boxes. But when the first bottles are finally sealed… it’s like preserving time itself. In glass.
And in between the meals and the bottling, I painted. The hills. The shadows. The light that softens everything. Small watercolors that emerged in the rhythm of that place. Very different from the bold gestures of my previous exhibition.
I brought back a few bottles. Memories of that week. Shall we enjoy one together?
On June 21 and 22, I’m opening my studio – for a moment to look at art – and perhaps take a piece home. Drink some wine. Talk. And shift your perspective a little, before summer sweeps you away.

AUTONOME ART & ART APPLICATIONS
I am an artist living and working in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
My latest body of work focuses on natural forms, flowers, plants and animals. It is a representation of my personal vision of beauty, but also of the strength, savagery and vulnerability in the natural form. My ongoing theme is protection of the self. Where in earlier collections women, children and child soldiers were the actors on my stage, like marionettes in our complicated, insane world, now animals, plants and flowers are. Through interventions in the delicate form, I tell stories of damaged balance on one side and perseverance on the other. I strive for overpowering, abundant compositions, even visual brutality.
